Common misunderstandings in the charging process
Avoid long-term power loss storage
Many users forget to recharge the battery when the forklift is idle. Lithium batteries that are in a state of power loss for a long time will generate lead sulfate crystals on the surface and adhere to the plate, blocking the ion transmission channel, which will not only greatly reduce the battery capacity, but also shorten the overall service life. It is recommended to recharge every half month during the idle period to maintain the power level above 60%.
Do not overcharge
Many people are accustomed to not unplugging the charger for a long time after the battery is fully charged. Overcharging will cause the water in the electrolyte to decompose and evaporate, causing the battery to bulge and increase the internal resistance. This will also pose a safety hazard in the long run. It is recommended to disconnect the power supply within 1 hour after charging.
Common misunderstandings in use
Do not mix chargers at will
There are differences in the voltage and current parameters of chargers adapted to different specifications of lithium batteries. Mixing non-matching chargers can cause problems such as unsatisfactory charging and slow charging speed, while overcharging and overheating may occur, damaging the internal structure of the battery.
Do not operate directly at full load in low temperature environments
When the ambient temperature is lower than 0 degrees Celsius, the activity of the lithium battery will decrease significantly, and the discharge capacity will decrease accordingly. If the full-load operation is started directly, it will cause the battery to over-discharge and damage the internal electrode material. It is recommended to run it without load for a period of time in a low-temperature environment, and then gradually increase the load after the battery temperature rises.
Common mistakes in maintenance
Do not wipe the battery interface with a damp rag
The battery interface is equipped with metal conductive components. Wiping with a wet rag can easily cause a short circuit, causing ignition and circuit damage. It is recommended to use a dry soft brush or dry rag to clean the dust and stains at the interface.
Do not disassemble the faulty battery yourself
The internal structure of the lithium battery is precise. Even if there is a minor malfunction, do not disassemble and repair it yourself. Improper operation can easily cause battery leakage, short circuit or even fire. If there is an abnormality, it is recommended to contact a professional maintenance personnel to deal with it.
The lifespan of lithium-ion forklift batteries is closely related to daily operating habits. Avoiding the above common misunderstandings can not only prolong the battery life cycle, but also reduce safety risks during use and reduce the operation and maintenance investment of electric forklifts.
