The influence of low temperature environment on forklift battery
The cold storage is in a low temperature environment below 0 ° C for a long time, and the electrolyte activity of the forklift battery will decrease significantly. The actual battery life under the same charging state will be reduced by 20% to 40% compared with the normal temperature environment. At the same time, there may also be problems such as reduced charging efficiency and increased discharge internal resistance. If it is used unreasonably in a low temperature environment for a long time, it will also accelerate the loss of the battery plate and greatly shorten the overall service life of the battery.
Specification for the use of forklift batteries in low temperature environments
Warm-up preparation before work
Before each operation in the cold storage, it is recommended to park the forklift in the normal temperature transition area for 10 to 15 minutes to allow the battery temperature to slowly adapt to the low temperature environment, so as to avoid condensation in the battery shell caused by excessive temperature difference and other safety hazards such as short circuit. Do not directly push the forklift at room temperature into the cold storage at minus zero temperature, and do not let the battery in the power loss state stay in the low temperature environment for a long time.
Notes during the operation process
When operating in a low temperature environment, try to avoid frequent sudden acceleration and sudden braking operations to reduce the impact of high current discharge on the internal structure of the battery. If a single operation lasts more than 1 hour, the forklift can be arranged to return to the transition area for a short rest to avoid the battery being in a low temperature and high load operation state for a long time. If the battery life is found to drop abnormally, there is an abnormal sound or odor during the operation, stop the operation immediately, transfer the vehicle to the normal temperature area to investigate the problem, and do not force the operation to continue.
Key points of daily maintenance of forklift batteries in low temperature environments
Charge management
Charging must be carried out in a dry area at room temperature. Do not charge in a cold storage or an open-air low-temperature area. Before charging, wipe the condensation and frost on the battery shell to ensure that the interface is dry and tidy. Do not charge the battery after use in a low temperature environment immediately. Leave it in the room temperature area for more than 30 minutes. Wait for the battery temperature to return to more than 10 ° C before charging. When charging, use suitable regular charging equipment, and do not overcharge and overdischarge.
Daily inspection and maintenance
A comprehensive inspection of the appearance, interface and connecting cable of the battery should be carried out once a week, and the dust, frost and condensate on the surface should be cleaned in time to avoid corrosion and loosening. The actual capacity and discharge efficiency of the battery can be tested once a month. If the battery loss is found to be beyond the normal range, it should be maintained and adjusted in time, and it should not be operated with disease. Batteries that have been idle for a long time should be fully charged and stored in a dry area at room temperature. Recharge once a month to avoid the problem of loss of electricity and freezing damage.
