Forklift steering cylinder oil seal aging and leakage, full set of repair kits Instructions for use

The steering cylinder of an electric forklift is the core component to ensure flexible steering of the vehicle. As a key sealing component of the cylinder, the oil seal is prone to aging and leakage due to long-term hydraulic oil erosion, mechanical friction and environmental factors. If not treated in time, it will not only increase the loss of hydraulic oil, but also lead to increased steering resistance and decreased accuracy, which will affect the normal operation and even operation safety of the forklift.

Before starting the repair, it is necessary to accurately determine the aging and leakage of the oil seal. During daily inspections, pay attention to whether there is continuous oil film accumulation on the surface of the piston rod of the cylinder, whether there are oil stains on the frame and ground around the cylinder, and feel the change in the steering force of the forklift. If the steering is obviously heavy, it is most likely that the failure of the oil seal will lead to hydraulic oil leakage and insufficient pressure.

Before using the full set of repair kits, make preparations. First park the forklift on a flat and stable site, pull up the handbrake and cut off the power supply, and complete the pressure relief by releasing the pressure relief valve of the hydraulic system to avoid the discharge of hydraulic oil during the disassembly process. Prepare the repair kit (including suitable dust rings, main oil seals, auxiliary seals, etc.) and special tools, such as socket wrenches, hexagonal screwdrivers, hydraulic cylinder disassembly tools, cleaning cloths, etc.

During the official operation, the first step is to disassemble the cylinder. Support the front of the forklift with a jack, make the steering wheel suspended, remove the connections between the two ends of the cylinder and the steering mechanism and hydraulic pipeline, and remove the cylinder smoothly. The second step is to disassemble the cylinder: Unscrew the cylinder end cover, slowly pull out the piston rod, and use a cleaning cloth to wipe the oil stains and wear debris on the inner wall of the cylinder and the surface of the piston rod. Pay attention to avoid scratching the precision surface. The third step is to replace the seal: According to the component instructions in the repair kit, install the new dust ring, main oil seal, and auxiliary seal in sequence. Pay attention to the direction of the seal when installing, and use special tools to assist in pushing to avoid distortion and damage of the seal. Step 4 Assemble the cylinder: Slowly load the piston rod with a small amount of hydraulic oil into the cylinder, tighten the end cover and ensure uniform tightening to prevent uneven force on the sealing part. Step 5 Reinstall the forklift: Reconnect the cylinder to the steering mechanism and hydraulic line, and check the tightness of all connections.

After the installation is completed, the test process needs to be carried out. Start the forklift, operate the steering mechanism many times, observe whether there are signs of leakage in the cylinder part, and feel whether the steering force returns to normal. Subsequent no-load and light-load driving tests can be carried out to confirm that the steering is flexible and free of cards, and the sealing performance is stable. During the operation, it should be noted that all seals should be handled with care to avoid scratches by sharp objects. The action during disassembly and assembly should be smooth to prevent damage to the precision parts of the cylinder.
