The core difference between gas and dust explosion protection
Trigger condition differences: Explosive gas atmospheres are flammable gases or vapors mixed with air to form an explosive mixture, which explodes in case of fire after reaching the explosion limit; explosive dust atmospheres are flammable dust suspended to form dust clouds, which explode in case of fire or high temperature. Some dusts may also spontaneously ignite due to friction and static electricity.
The key points of protection are different: the core of gas explosion-proof equipment is to seal up to standard to prevent the infiltration of flammable gases and control the generation of fire sources; dust explosion-proof equipment focuses on dust prevention and dust removal to avoid dust accumulation, strictly control the surface temperature of the equipment, and prevent high temperature from igniting dust clouds.
Differences in certification standards: The two follow different explosion-proof certification standards. Gas explosion-proof is based on explosive gas environmental specifications, and dust explosion-proof meets special standards for explosive dust environments. The requirements for equipment protection grades and structures vary.
Division of Applicable Scenarios for Explosion-proof Forklifts
Gas explosion-proof forklifts are suitable for use in environments where flammable and explosive gases or vapors are present, such as petroleum product storage areas, chemical raw material workshops, gas distribution sites, etc. In these scenarios, volatile flammable gases such as gasoline and natural gas need to be selected. Forklifts that meet gas explosion-proof standards are required.
Dust-proof forklifts are suitable for use in places where there is a large amount of combustible dust, such as grain processing warehouses, feed production workshops, wood processing plants, metal powder manufacturing workshops, etc. Dust such as flour, wood chips, and aluminum powder is easily suspended, and the dust-proof design can reduce the risk of explosion.
Composite explosion-proof scene selection: some scenes at the same time there are gas and dust risks, such as paint production workshop, need to choose composite explosion-proof qualification forklift, at the same time with ventilation, dust removal measures to ensure safety compliance.
